How to get around within Hamburg?

Being blunt: If you don't really need your car for means of transportation, don't take it. Hamburg has an excellent public transportation scheme, annoyingly little parking and LOTS of road work going on at the moment. As a rule you're faster and more comfortable riding trains and busses.

For short distances we got city bikes, called "StadtRad". Rental stations are on every corner of the city and they're cheap and in good shape. Check it out here.
